Jody Lavoie Named Winner of the 2008 Royal LePage Shelter Foundation Award!

Jody Lavoie is the creator of the Renovation Challenge. In an effort to become more involved in the community, this past year Jody purchased a dated 3 bedroom bungalow in Ottawa. With the help of countless volunteers, sponsors, past clients and friends, Jody redesigned the home, demolished the inside and rebuilt it into a trendy home with a long list of little extras to come along with it. (Like the 42” flat screen TV from Rogers!) Once renovations were complete Jody sold the property. He took all the profit from the sale and made a donation to two worthy charities helping our community; the Ronald McDonald House Ottawa and the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation (This foundation provides money to local women’s shelters).

On February 27, Jody made a trip down to Toronto where he was presented with the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation Award for his generous contribution. This award is given to individuals who made outstanding or extraordinary contributions of their time and effort to their local shelter and community. Jody is honoured to be named the Ontario Individual of the Year and hopes to make many more contributions to the Shelter Foundation and other local charities in the years to come through future Renovation Challenge events.
